roperties of Integers

1.Given that two of the integers are odd and two of the integers are even, the sum of the four integers must be the sum of an even integer (this being the sum of the two odd integers) and an even integer (this being the sum of the two even integers). Since the sum of two even integers is even, it follows that the sum of the four integers is even; SUFFICIENT.

2.Given that the average of the four integers is an integer, it follows that the sum of the four integers divided by four is an integer, and hence the sum of the integers is four times an integer. Since four times an integer is even, it follows that the sum of the four integers is even; SUFFICIENT.


The correct answer is D;

each statement alone is sufficient.
